May 17, 2009. Morality and reality?

Morality and the science, what I have in mind is the evolution theory, do not mix as water with oil.

This is what I have neglected to think about for so long. This is a strange relationship between so-called another value system such as “free market” and “democracy” and “morality”.

Some would equate morality with “free market” and “democracy”.

Others would equate “human right”, “animal right”, “environment protection” as “morality”. What is the nature of these equations?

Some would also think “fairness”, “economic equity” as “morality” and devoted themselves to fight for this “cause”.

So what is the nature of morality? Is progress means “morally” superior than “fairness”, “justice”?

What is the relationship between morality and “special interest”?

“National interest” means morality?

Science and morality can be coexisting as some claim, can they? Some would like to equat “god” with “morality”. “Blind faith” and “scientific objectivity” can be coexist as a way not to offend one’s fan base or support as some one claims before. I have Francis Collin in mind. This is shooting one foot to say something offending your supporters.

Constitution is as sacred as morality?

Morality is a subject of perspective, is it? Objectivity is not synonymous with morality, is it?

Have 100 people killed to saved 1000 people is morally superior than having 1000 people killed around another corner of the world so no one in the side of the world should not have to suffer any inconveniency, is it?

What is the point? Can one forgo reality for idealism?

Should one give up one life to save the world? Can the world be saved from reality of dog-eat-dog? Can human tame the animal world so they would not prey on each other?

Priority setting is an act of morality, is it?
